TechFlow news, according to CoinDesk, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said a digital euro would take at least two years to address privacy concerns related to central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
The European Central Bank will make a key decision in the coming weeks on whether to continue preparing for a CBDC, but many members of the European Parliament appear skeptical. ECB President Christine Lagarde stated, "It won't be until the end of October that the ECB's Governing Council will decide whether to move forward with the project. The pilot phase could take us at least another two years before a final decision is made."
Lagarde emphasized that the digital euro must offer privacy, but not full anonymity, and needs to be user-friendly, free, and widely accessible.
