TechFlow news, September 21 — Balancer has released a Twitter update regarding its recent DNS attack, confirming that the domain is now secure and back under Balancer DAO control. The app.balancer.fi and other balancer.fi subdomains are safe to use. Investigation revealed this was a social engineering attack targeting EuroDNS, the registrar for the .fi top-level domain (TLD). Balancer is now exploring deprecation of the .fi TLD in favor of more secure registrars and recommends other projects using the .fi TLD do the same.
Earlier report: Balancer suffered a BGP or DNS hijacking attack, resulting in a loss of approximately $238,000.
