TechFlow news: Digital Currency Group Inc. (DCG) and its CEO Barry Silbert have recently faced fraud allegations from Cameron Winklevoss, co-founder of the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini Trust Co. While they have denied these allegations, federal officials are conducting an in-depth investigation into DCG and its subsidiary Genesis Global Capital's internal financial transactions.
According to sources familiar with the matter, in recent months prosecutors from Brooklyn, FBI agents, and U.S. SEC staff have interviewed Winklevoss to discuss his allegations. The sources said that the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York specifically questioned matters relating to Silbert's conduct.
It should be noted that investigations by U.S. attorneys, the FBI, or the SEC do not always result in charges or enforcement actions. None of the three parties commented on the record.
