TechFlow news: Bitcoin non-profit Btrust has acquired Qala, an organization dedicated to training African Bitcoin and Lightning Network engineers. The transaction was completed on September 1, and Qala has been rebranded as the Btrust Builders Programme.
It is understood that Btrust was co-founded two years ago by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and American rapper Jay-Z. As a grant fund committed to financing Bitcoin development initiatives, Btrust primarily focuses on teams in Africa and India, with an initial endowment of approximately 500 bitcoins.
