TechFlow — On August 27, Changpeng Zhao posted on X (formerly Twitter) stating that a new wave of phishing attacks has begun targeting users of FTX, BlockFi, and Genesis due to the Kroll data breach, which appears to have resulted from an employee's SIM card being swapped.
Previously, FTX announced that in response to the cybersecurity incident involving Kroll, its claims administration agent, FTX has taken preventive measures by temporarily freezing affected user accounts in the customer claims portal.
BlockFi stated that the attack on Kroll led to a partial data leak of some customers' information, but emphasized that BlockFi’s internal systems and customer funds remain secure. BlockFi urges users to enhance their security practices and remain vigilant against scams such as fraudulent emails.
