TechFlow news: Russia has started consumer testing of its digital ruble, becoming the 21st country globally to test a central bank digital currency. The Central Bank of Russia said the trial is being conducted at 30 sales points across 11 Russian cities, involving 13 banks and 600 individuals.
VTB, Russia's second-largest bank, said it successfully tested digital ruble transactions through its mobile app. The central bank aims to officially launch the digital ruble around 2025 to 2027, but has pledged not to force people to use it.
