TechFlow news — Jason Choi, founder of TANGENT and former partner at Spartan Capital, posted a tweet stating that the cryptocurrency space has seen too many skeuomorphic designs imitating Web2 products, such as a "blockchain version of Twitter" or an "NFT version of OnlyFans."
No matter how fast the on-chain performance becomes, crypto platforms will never have user interfaces faster or smoother than Web2.0 products.
Our goal should be to enable entirely new behaviors that are impossible in Web2, rather than simply copying existing models.
DeFi and NFTs succeeded because they achieved things completely unattainable in Web 2.0. This is why venture capitalists favor L1s—the value unlock for users (in this case, developers) is already clear: building trustless systems.
But for consumer-facing products, this value proposition remains less clear. The opportunity for the next bull market lies precisely here.
