TechFlow reports that Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal, regarding the lawsuit over Tornado Cash sanctions, stated, "We still believe the plaintiffs’ challenge to the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) actions on Tornado Cash is correct. We’ve long known that resolving these issues would require review by the Fifth Circuit Court, and we will continue supporting their appeal."
Previously, in a lawsuit over Tornado Cash sanctions supported by Coinbase, a judge dismissed part of the plaintiffs’ motion for summary judgment. The court found that Tornado Cash constitutes an association in the ordinary sense and therefore qualifies as an entity subject to designation under OFAC regulations.
