TechFlow news, AI company Anthropic announced an additional $100 million investment from South Korean telecom giant SK Telecom.
The investment comes alongside a collaboration between the two companies to develop multilingual large language models (LLMs) for telecommunications AI platforms. The upcoming LLM will be available in Korean, English, German, Japanese, Arabic, and Spanish, aiming to create customized AI services for global telecom providers.
Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei said SKT has "incredible ambition" to use AI to "transform" the way the telecommunications industry operates.
In addition, the two companies plan to work together to help "fine-tune" Claude 2, Anthropic's latest model released on July 11. This development comes as AI industry leaders highlight South Korea as a market with growth potential, particularly in chip development.
Anthropic was recently included in the Biden administration's AI Cybersecurity Challenge, which engages major industry players to protect U.S. cybersecurity infrastructure. It is also a member of the "Frontier Model Forum," alongside Google, OpenAI, and Microsoft, to help regulate the development of AI.
