TechFlow news: Decentralized startup Nexus Mutual has partnered with InShare, the manager of mutual insurance organizations, to provide blockchain-based insurance for real-world risks. Under the collaboration, Nexus will allocate a portion of its $274 million on-chain capital pool to The Retail Mutual.
Nexus offers up to $2.3 million in total coverage for risk events such as fire, theft, and accidental damage. InShare manages The Retail Mutual, overseeing core operations including claims processing, risk management, and reinsurance decisions. According to the agreement, Nexus will cover losses if The Retail Mutual’s annual claims exceed 57% of community contributions or if any single claim exceeds £200,000 ($255,000). With The Retail Mutual generating approximately £2 million in annual revenue, Nexus will share liability for claims exceeding £1.14 million.
The Retail Mutual is a UK-based mutual organization comprising over 5,000 shop owners and small retail businesses.
