TechFlow news — On July 29, the 【ChinaJoy Web3 2023】 conference, co-hosted by Hanwei Xinheng, Xinhuo Technology, and D11 Labs, was successfully held in Shanghai. Garrison Yang, VP of Growth and Strategy at Ava Labs, delivered a keynote speech titled "Web2.01: The Next Step in Gaming Innovation," in which he shared that user growth in Web3 gaming has not been as rapid as expected. Significant user acquisition barriers still exist, including the complexity of using decentralized wallets, high costs, and poor gameplay, all of which have deterred many Web2 gamers.
Building on this, Garrison introduced the concept of "Web2.01": developers should maximize the use of Web3 and blockchain technologies while minimizing impact on the user gaming experience—leveraging Web3 technology to deliver a Web2-style experience. "Right now, we should focus on enhancing the Web2 experience instead of pushing players into areas they aren't ready for," said Garrison. "The market has made it clear: Web2 gaming is far ahead in terms of user experience. Web3 technology should aim to improve these existing strengths, not replace them."
In June this year, Ava Labs launched the Avalanche Arcad3 initiative, aimed at helping Web2 game companies explore Web3. Arcad3 will provide Web2 game developers with support in blockchain technology, marketing, and economic modeling.
