TechFlow news: Telegram has raised $210 million through bond issuance, with the bonds purchased by its founder and a group of prominent funds, though the specific fund names were not disclosed.
Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram, said he personally acquired approximately one-quarter of the bonds.
Telegram is still not profitable. The new funding aims to bring it closer to break-even. Over the past decade, Durov has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to keep the app running.
Telegram reportedly has over 800 million monthly users, adding more than 300 million users in the last two and a half years, attracting 2.5 million new registrations daily.
