TechFlow news, according to Cointelegraph, U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled on June 15 to split the criminal charges against FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) into two separate trials. The first trial, covering eight charges brought before his extradition from the Bahamas to the United States, will begin on October 2. A second trial on five additional charges is scheduled for March 11, 2024.
The ruling follows a request by Department of Justice prosecutors for Bahamian authorities to drop five extra charges imposed after SBF was extradited from their country. As a result, the charges against SBF have been divided. Attorneys for the FTX co-founder have attempted to dismiss these charges, arguing that he cannot be tried on charges stemming from after his extradition.
