TechFlow news, according to sources, the Federal Reserve and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are investigating Goldman Sachs. The probe is related to the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), in which Goldman played a role in purchasing SVB's investment securities portfolio.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice has also issued subpoenas to Goldman Sachs as part of its investigation into SVB.
The specific focus of the investigation into Goldman Sachs is whether its roles as buyer of the investment portfolio and financial advisor to SVB involved improper communications. As such, both the Federal Reserve and the U.S. SEC are seeking relevant documents. Currently, Goldman's investment banking and trading divisions are both under investigation.
