TechFlow reports, according to BeInCrypto, regarding the controversy sparked by the "Ledger Recover" feature, former Ledger CEO Éric Larchevêque stated on Reddit that the confusion caused by the Recover product is not a technical failure, but a public relations failure.
Many people believe Ledger to be a trustless solution, but that's not the case. To use Ledger products, users must place a certain degree of trust in Ledger. Ledger's security model has not changed—these devices remain secure, with no backdoors or conspiracies.
The Recover code in the firmware is not malicious and does not enable arbitrary extraction of recovery phrases.
Earlier reports indicated that hardware wallet maker Ledger launched its ID-based key recovery service "Ledger Recover," which drew opposition from some users.
