TechFlow news — According to Bloomberg, Daniel Alegre, the newly appointed CEO of Yuga Labs, said in an interview that NFTs still have a bright future as they serve as the key to accessing gaming, events, and e-commerce worlds.
Alegre pointed out that the company plans to expand user access to its games and allow other companies to develop products and experiences for Otherside. Since joining the company, he has spent much of his time internally restructuring Yuga to resemble a more traditional enterprise, breaking down each NFT collection into its own standalone franchise.
The lack of high-quality games capable of competing with those from traditional publishers has long been a challenge for both Yuga and Web3 game studios more broadly, and Alegre aims to address this issue. He said the company is still considering whether it will eventually extend its brand beyond web and mobile games to include console platforms.
Alegre noted that part of Yuga's appeal lies in its effort to become a brand that attracts influential users and actively involves them—a feat he believes game studios have not yet fully achieved. "In reality," he stated, "major game companies must fundamentally overhaul their economic models in order to truly consider how others can own a part of the ecosystem."
Earlier on April 1, it was reported that Daniel Alegre, former president of Activision Blizzard, officially assumed the role of CEO at Yuga Labs.
