TechFlow news, Russian banks said the platform developed for the digital ruble will be capable of operating with central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) issued by various countries. The monetary authority announced that mechanisms for interacting with digital coins issued by other nations' central banks are already under development.
The Central Bank of Russia stated that the system supporting the issuance and circulation of its central bank digital currency (CBDC) could work well with other countries’ digital fiat currencies. Speaking with Russian lawmakers, central bank officials noted that this issue still requires resolution but emphasized that various interaction models between the digital ruble and other CBDCs are currently being developed.
Proposed alternatives include establishing two-way integration with each individual CBDC platform or launching an international digital platform to facilitate simultaneous interactions among digital currencies issued by multiple entities.
Nonetheless, the Central Bank of Russia continues to oppose the free circulation of decentralized cryptocurrencies within the country and has no plans to establish a national cryptocurrency exchange.
Earlier reports indicated that the Russian central bank intends to permit the use of cryptocurrencies for foreign settlements within an "experimental" environment.
