TechFlow, BitKeep wallet has announced that for the incident where the previous 729 APK installer was hijacked by hackers resulting in theft of funds from some users, BitKeep has already made advance payments and completed the first round of compensation. As of March 1, a total of 6,731 affected wallets have passed the review process, and 50% of the compensation funds have been disbursed to all verified affected users. The remaining 50% is expected to be paid out in a single installment within the early part of this month.
During the February claims process, users with questionable login statuses or compromised addresses entered an appeal procedure. By February 28, a total of 3,857 appeals were submitted, all of which have now been reviewed by BitKeep. Of these, 2,785 addresses were confirmed successful upon appeal. Reasons for failed appeals included no record of login via the malicious installer, storing stolen tokens using the hacker-modified package, or falsified addresses. BitKeep will notify users of their appeal outcomes within this week and initiate the second round of claims processing, issuing full compensation payments in one installment to approved users before mid-month.
