TechFlow news — Google has invested approximately $300 million in artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, according to three people familiar with the matter. Through this deal, Google is expected to acquire about a 10% stake, with terms requiring Anthropic to use the funds to purchase computing resources from Google Cloud.
Both OpenAI and Anthropic are pursuing the development of generative AI—sophisticated computer programs capable of writing scripts and creating artwork within seconds. While Microsoft has sought to integrate OpenAI’s technology across many of its own services, Google’s relationship with Anthropic remains limited to serving as a technology supplier in the AI arms race, according to people familiar with the matter. Anthropic has developed an intelligent chatbot named Claude that rivals OpenAI’s ChatGPT, though it has not yet been publicly released.
Earlier reports indicated that Anthropic, which ranked second in Alameda/FTX’s investment portfolio, may complete a financing round of around $300 million. Alameda/FTX previously invested approximately $500 million in Anthropic.Original link
