TechFlow reports that over 4,000 people have used the CryptoLaw petition app to urge the U.S. Congress to investigate the conduct of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler in connection with the FTX fraud case. The petition states: "Prior to FTX's collapse, Gensler met with SBF. Lawmakers have been informed that Gensler collaborated with SBF to secure regulatory exemptions for FTX, while a massive fraud unfolded under the SEC’s watch. It is now time for Congress to fully investigate Gensler’s role in one of the largest financial frauds in U.S. history."
Earlier reports from Fortune Crypto, a division of Fortune magazine, revealed that SBF was one of President Joe Biden’s top donors, and his parents are connected to the Democratic Party. His mother, Barbara Fried, leads a group called "Mind the Gap" that helps raise funds for Democrats in Silicon Valley, while his father, Joseph Bankman, drafted tax legislation for Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass). As such, SBF may have leveraged these connections for personal gain while avoiding oversight from SEC Chair Gary Gensler.Source
