TechFlow news, on-chain analyst Lookonchain stated on social media that on-chain investigator ZachXBT revealed that cryptocurrency exchange Gate.io was hacked by North Korean hackers for $230 million on April 21, 2018, and has not disclosed this incident to customers since. On-chain data shows that the first transaction from Gate.io's hot wallet also occurred on April 21, 2018, suggesting that Gate.io concealed the theft of funds.
Additionally, Lookonchain noted that by analyzing four of Gate.io's wallets on Ethereum, it was found that Gate.io holds only $479 million in assets. Gate.io holds 71.3651 million GT tokens and 3,139,008,926,439 SHIB tokens, which together account for 61% of its total assets. Gate.io holds only 53,930 ETH and 31.98 million USDT, which together make up just 21% of its total assets.Source link
