TechFlow news — On October 18, life extension advocacy organization Lifespan announced on its official Twitter that prominent Web3 entrepreneur and TRON founder Justin Sun donated $51,000 to its "Longevity Prize Fund" to support the initiative in advancing scientific research on life extension. As a result of this donation, Sun has become the second-largest contributor to the "Longevity Prize Fund," ranking just below Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin ("Vitalik"). Donating to support research into longevity science is a shared priority among many wealthy individuals, with figures such as Li Ka-shing, Jeff Bezos, and Vitalik having previously made significant contributions to related organizations.
Justin Sun subsequently retweeted the announcement, expressing his honor in supporting the "Longevity Prize Fund" and research in the field of life extension, noting that researchers in these areas are working to create a better and longer future for all.
The "Longevity Prize Fund" is a series of awards established to accelerate progress in life extension research, aimed at recognizing scientists dedicated to combating age-related diseases. The prize was jointly launched earlier this year by organizations including VitaDAO, Foresight Institute, Methuselah Foundation, and Lifespan.io. VitaDAO, supported by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, is a decentralized organization focused on funding early-stage longevity research. Unlike traditional scientific research funds, the "Longevity Prize Fund" specifically targets potentially underappreciated or overlooked life extension research projects.
