TechFlow news — Avalanche announced the upcoming release of the AvalancheGo Banff upgrade, scheduled to activate on the Fuji testnet at 22:00 on October 3, with mainnet activation time to be announced later. Banff unlocks for subnet creators the ability to use their own tokens to enable Proof-of-Stake validation and uptime-based rewards on their subnets. This means anyone can become a validator on a subnet by simply staking their tokens on the P-Chain. Subnets choosing to enable these new features must permanently convert to elastic subnets.
When enabling elastic validation, creators permanently lock the subnet against future modifications (by relinquishing control keys), specify the Avalanche Native Token (ANT) that validators must stake and that will be distributed as staking rewards, and provide a set of parameters governing the subnet’s staking mechanism (such as minimum staking amount).Original link
