TechFlow news — SpaceX is set to launch Cryptosat's first encryption satellite into low Earth orbit from Florida on the 26th local time in the United States. The satellite, named "Crypto1," is about the size of a coffee cup and will provide a physically inaccessible, tamper-proof platform for launching blockchain and ledger applications in space.
Cryptosat co-founder Yan Michalevsky said this type of platform is the first trust root beyond Earth—one that does not rely on other companies' satellites. He added that one of the most exciting applications of the module is enabling zero-knowledge proof protocols, which are commonly used for making decisions without revealing individual votes, such as voting within decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
