TechFlow news, according to official information, the ninth upgrade of the self-amending Tezos protocol, Ithaca 2, has been launched. This update introduces a new consensus mechanism called Tenderbake, which replaces the previous Emmy+ consensus algorithm with the BFT (Byzantine Fault Tolerance) consensus algorithm, enabling shorter block times and faster finality compared to Emmy+. The new protocol version will enable operation pre-validation to increase the number of transactions propagated across the Tezos network. Additionally, this upgrade plans to extend the liquidity baking experiment by approximately another 10 months.
It is reported that Ithaca originates from the ninth protocol upgrade proposal for Tezos and is so far the largest update.
