TechFlow news — Jason Choi, partner at crypto venture firm The Spartan Group, stated that the Web3 metaverse refers to digital virtual worlds that typically incorporate elements of user ownership via cryptocurrencies or NFTs. All current startups can be categorized into three main layers: infrastructure (identity, metaverse infrastructure, hardware foundation), experience layer (gaming, social, and commerce concepts), and value-added layer (guilds, studios, marketplaces). A comprehensive, immersive infrastructure framework could become the next game-changer.
Choi said: "Imagine a platform where any developer can build social, entertainment, work, education, and business experiences, accessible by any user. The vision of a Web3 metaverse may take one year, five years, or even ten years to realize. The current state of metaverse projects reminds me of many early Web3 prototypes back in 2017—numerous ideas were disconnected from technological constraints at the time, yet there was strong evidence that product-market fit was just around the corner."
