TechFlow News — According to The Block, Sequoia Capital has launched a $500 million to $600 million cryptocurrency investment fund, with individual project investments ranging from $100,000 to $50 million. The fund plans to participate in processes including staking, liquidity provision, and governance. This marks Sequoia Capital's first industry-specific fund since its founding in 1972.
In addition to this digital currency sub-fund, Sequoia will continue investing in cryptocurrency startups through its primary seed, venture, growth, and expansion funds, which have total committed capital of over $7.5 billion. Since 2015, Sequoia has been investing in digital currencies through equity and token transactions. Last year, 20% of Sequoia’s new investments in the U.S. and Europe were allocated to the digital currency market. Its portfolio companies include FTX, Fireblocks, StarkWare, and Filecoin.
