TechFlow News — According to JP.Cointelegraph on January 18, Ripple CTO David Schwartz stated that former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas has not only lost access to 7,002 BTC, but his total losses on Bitcoin could be even greater. This is because when Stefan Thomas was developing a JavaScript library for Bitcoin, he frequently used real bitcoins for testing. At that time, Bitcoin was worth less than $1, and he created hundreds of "unspent transaction outputs" (UTXOs), each containing 1 BTC, without keeping the corresponding private keys.
Previously, on January 12, it was reported that former Ripple CTO Stefan Thomas had lost access to his IronKey wallet, which holds 7,002 BTC valued at approximately $230 million. In June 2019, Stefan Thomas admitted that he had lost the private key, resulting in the loss of these coins.
