According to Decrypt, data from Digiconomist shows that in the two weeks following the May 11 halving, Bitcoin mining's energy consumption dropped by 24%, while the network's hashrate fell by 38%. However, latest figures indicate that Bitcoin mining energy use has started rising again. Based on yesterday's data, Bitcoin mining would consume 61.256 TWh of electricity annually—the highest number reported since May 11. In fact, this figure briefly surpassed the 60 TWh mark in June, before falling back below it, but recently it has remained above 60 TWh for a consecutive week.
