TechFlow news, July 19, according to Korean media ETNews, the South Korean government released the "Korean Won Internationalization Roadmap," proposing to promote the transformation of the Korean Won into a freely convertible currency and build an offshore Korean Won settlement network. According to the plan, the Bank of Korea plans to trial the "Offshore Korean Won Settlement Network" this September and officially launch it in January next year; simultaneously advancing digital asset payment infrastructure construction to support the issuance, distribution, and trading of Korean Won-denominated stablecoins.
South Korea also plans to launch a government bond tokenization pilot linked to the Bank of Korea's institutional digital currency next year, and officially join the cross-border digital payment project "Agora" led by the Bank for International Settlements.
