TechFlow reports, July 15, according to CoinDesk, U.S. Senators Chris Murphy, Chris Van Hollen, and Jeff Merkley held a press conference on Capitol Hill on July 14, publicly announcing their opposition to the cryptocurrency market structure bill "Digital Asset Market Clarity Act" (Clarity Act), and characterized it as "corrupt legislation".
The core focus of the three senators' opposition is that the bill currently still fails to incorporate ethics provisions prohibiting the president and senior government officials from personally participating in the crypto industry. Van Hollen stated bluntly that the bill "will cause great harm"; Murphy used even stronger wording, stating that if the bill fails to sever the financial ties between the Trump family and the crypto industry, it "is itself a shield for corruption".
