TechFlow News, June 10: According to Bits.media, Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that the EU plans to impose restrictions on 11 cryptocurrency platforms identified as assisting Russia in circumventing international sanctions as part of its 21st round of sanctions. Additionally, the EU will expand its ban on cryptocurrency-related services in certain third countries.
Kaja Kallas added that the EU will also expand its sanctions list and prohibit transactions with these 11 cryptocurrency platforms, though specific platform names have not yet been disclosed. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, noted that the new measures will also extend to the traditional financial sector, potentially covering approximately 90 Russian banks—31 of which may face full transaction bans.
