TechFlow News: On June 3, according to The Block, Ledger’s Donjon security research team discovered a hardware vulnerability in the TROPIC01 chip used in the Trezor Safe 7. Attackers with physical access to the device could bypass firmware verification and load unauthorized firmware via laser fault injection in a lab environment.
Trezor stated that user funds, wallet backups, and private keys are not stored on this chip; thus, there is currently no risk to user funds, and no action is required from users. Chip manufacturer Tropic Square confirmed that all mass-produced TROPIC01 chips currently in use are affected and plans to release a hardened version by the end of 2026.
