TechFlow News, May 31: According to a Decrypt report, Michael Carbonara—a fintech entrepreneur and Republican candidate for Florida’s 22nd Congressional District—sold 10 BTC this month, converting them into $800,000 worth of USDC to fund his congressional campaign. His spokesperson stated that the sale came from Carbonara’s personal cryptocurrency holdings.
The report notes that Carbonara also accepts cryptocurrency donations from external supporters and affirmed that his campaign team has complied with all relevant regulations set by the U.S. Federal Election Commission. Additionally, Carbonara advocates leveraging blockchain technology to enhance transparency in campaign financing and government budgeting.
