TechFlow News, May 21: Mohammad Amin-Nejad, Iran’s Ambassador to France, recently stated: “Iran is in discussions with Oman on establishing a permanent toll system to formalize its control over maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran and Oman must mobilize all available resources to provide security services and manage navigation in the most appropriate manner. This will incur costs; therefore, countries wishing to benefit from this passage must also shoulder their share of responsibility (i.e., pay fees to reopen the Strait).” He emphasized, however, that “the toll system will be transparent. If countries today wish to improve the situation, they must address the root causes of the problem.” (Jinshi)
