TechFlow News, May 19: According to TechCrunch, AI-powered social app Status AI has announced the completion of a combined $17 million seed and Series A funding round, with investors including General Catalyst, Y Combinator, LightShed Partners, and Abstract.
The platform focuses on gamified social experiences, enabling users to create character identities and enter user-generated virtual worlds, where they can engage in solo or multiplayer social interactions through role-playing. Status AI reports that over 13 million worlds and 5 million character profiles have already been created on the platform; the newly raised funds will be used to scale the platform.
