TechFlow News, May 14: According to a Decrypt report, an X platform user “Cprkrn” claimed that Anthropic’s Claude helped them recover a dormant Bitcoin wallet—unused for nearly nine years—containing approximately 5 BTC, valued at roughly $400,000. On-chain data shows the wallet address beginning with “14VJyS” had no transactions since 2015 until today.
The report notes that existing screenshots do not indicate Claude cracked Bitcoin’s underlying cryptography; rather, it likely assisted in analyzing encrypted wallet files, mnemonic phrase clues, and password recovery procedures. Previously, Cprkrn attempted to restore the wallet using btcrecover and Hashcat but was unsuccessful. Industry insiders suggest this case resembles historical data organization and forensic analysis more closely than direct “cracking” of Bitcoin encryption.
