TechFlow News, April 25: According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, on April 25, Behnam Sayyedi, a member of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, stated that Iran has formulated a comprehensive plan for managing the Strait of Hormuz. In an interview with Mehr News Agency, Sayyedi said a key component of this plan is the exclusive use of the name “Persian Gulf” in all official correspondence and commercial documents, rejecting any other nomenclature. All vessels and warships navigating within this region must obtain prior authorization from Iran.
Sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz will rest entirely with Iran. He further stated that vessels belonging to countries designated as hostile by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council or the General Staff of the Armed Forces are prohibited from transiting the Strait of Hormuz; Israeli vessels are absolutely banned from passing through the area. Vessels transiting the strait must pay related fees concerning security, environmental protection, maritime management, and permit issuance—preferably in Iranian rials. (Jinshi)
