TechFlow News, March 25: According to the UK’s Daily Telegraph, Iran has refused to hold negotiations with U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Issues Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, accusing them of “bad faith.” Gulf sources stated that Iran will not sit down for talks with Witkoff or Kushner, as Tehran was subjected to a military strike just hours after their February meeting. U.S. Vice President JD Vance has largely remained silent amid this conflict; however, if negotiations resume later this week in Islamabad, Pakistan, Vance is viewed as the leading candidate to serve as chief U.S. negotiator. “Vance is the preferred choice,” a Gulf source said regarding Iran’s stance. “They do not wish to engage with Kushner and Witkoff due to their perceived bad faith.” The source added that Iran believes Vance would honor commitments, and his involvement is seen as appropriate for negotiations with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. Vance’s potential appointment as head of the U.S. negotiating team signals the White House’s intent to avoid further economic losses and de-escalate tensions—though the overarching strategy to end the war remains unclear.
