TechFlow News: On March 16, U.S. President Trump posted on social media claiming that Iran is using artificial intelligence to spread disinformation. He stated that earlier reports by The Wall Street Journal and other media outlets—claiming that five U.S. aerial refueling tankers had been shot down and severely damaged—were false, as all those aircraft remain in active service. He also denied reports of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier catching fire, asserting that Iran closely collaborated with “fake news” media outlets to fabricate images of the carrier burning out of control at sea. Trump said the media organizations disseminating this information should be prosecuted for treason due to their dissemination of false information, and added that Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr is reviewing the broadcast licenses of some of these organizations.
