TechFlow News, March 9: According to data from JINSHI Data citing CCTV News, the second plenary session of the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress was held on the morning of March 9 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Zhang Jun, President of the Supreme People’s Court, delivered the Supreme People’s Court Work Report. The report states that over the past five years, 9,326 cases involving cyber-security-related crimes—implicating 22,000 individuals—were adjudicated, representing a 158.5% increase (in case count) compared to the previous five-year period. Crimes including online rumor-mongering, online pyramid schemes, and cyberbullying were punished in accordance with law to promote comprehensive, law-based governance of cyberspace security. Two young individuals were convicted and sentenced for maliciously conducting “doxxing” operations—illegally obtaining and disseminating others’ private information. Money laundering, illegal foreign exchange evasion, and other crimes using virtual currencies as intermediaries were strictly punished to jointly prevent illicit cross-border fund transfers. It was clarified that drivers who activate driver-assistance systems while intoxicated remain criminally liable; technological applications must adhere to legal boundaries.
