The scam exploited Phantom Wallet’s interface, which failed to effectively filter out spam transactions, causing the user to mistakenly copy an incorrect address with a similar prefix. ZachXBT urged Phantom to prioritize fixing this security vulnerability and disclosed the associated theft address and transaction hash.
