TechFlow News, February 9: According to Decrypt, French police have arrested six suspects—including a minor—for allegedly kidnapping a 35-year-old female judge and her 67-year-old mother and demanding cryptocurrency as ransom. The abduction reportedly occurred during the night between last Wednesday and Thursday. The suspects sent ransom messages and photos to the victim’s partner, threatening physical harm to the victims if payment was not made promptly.
A neighbor heard the commotion, intervened, opened the door, and helped both victims escape successfully—no ransom was paid. The prosecutor stated that the female judge is “a partner at a cryptocurrency startup.”
