Buterin has “nearly completely” migrated to the open-source, decentralized document platform Fileverse and has “decisively” adopted Signal as his primary communication application. In 2026, he will also replace Google Maps with OpenStreetMap, Gmail with Proton Mail, and prioritize decentralized social media.
Buterin specifically emphasized the importance of running AI models locally, stating that sending all data to third-party services is “unnecessary.”
