TechFlow news, January 23 — According to Jinshi Data, on Thursday, Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted 215 to 215 to reject a resolution that would have barred President Trump from taking further military action against Venezuela without congressional authorization. A similar measure failed in the Senate just days earlier. In the narrowly divided House, the vote largely followed party lines. All Republicans, except Don Bacon of Nebraska and Thomas Massie of Kentucky, voted against the resolution, while all Democrats voted in favor. The deadlock reflects growing concern within Congress—including among a few Republicans—about Trump's foreign policy, and increasing support for the constitutionally grounded principle that the power to deploy U.S. military forces into hostilities rests with Congress, not the president.
