TechFlow reported on January 22 that Yu Xian (@evilcos), founder of SlowMist, issued a security alert warning that certain hacker groups are using sophisticated "worm propagation engineering" to conduct large-scale fraud. After stealing Telegram accounts, these hackers contact the victims' contacts in both Chinese and English, then distribute malware through fake Zoom and other conferencing software, code repositories carrying malicious code (capable of infecting popular IDEs), or compromised third-party tools and gaming software. Once targets are infected, hackers steal cryptocurrencies and accounts, then use the newly acquired accounts to further expand their attacks.
