TechFlow, December 29 — According to "on-chain investigator" ZachXBT, a Canadian hacker named Haby (Havard) has stolen over $2 million in cryptocurrency assets over the past year by impersonating Coinbase customer support and conducting social engineering scams. The hacker spent the illicit funds on rare social media usernames, nightclub expenses, and gambling.
Investigations reveal that Haby recently made frequent purchases of expensive Telegram usernames and deleted his most recent account two days ago. Through open-source intelligence analysis of his social media story posts, investigators have identified Haby's location as Abbotsford, near Vancouver, Canada. ZachXBT noted that while Canadian law enforcement may already be aware of Haby, such cyber threat actors are rarely prosecuted in the region.
