TechFlow news, December 5 — According to Decrypt, the European Commission announced on Thursday that it has formally launched an antitrust investigation into Meta over whether its revised WhatsApp business policies violate EU competition law. Meta's updated policy, introduced at the end of October, prohibits third-party AI companies from distributing chatbots via WhatsApp when AI is the primary feature, while allowing Meta's own AI to continue operating on the platform. The policy took effect for new AI providers on October 15, 2025, and will apply to existing providers starting January 15, 2026.
