TechFlow news, November 27 — According to Cointelegraph, the Ethereum network recently underwent a major technical upgrade, successfully increasing its mainnet block gas limit to 60M, reaching the highest level in four years. Data shows that over 513,000 validators supported this increase, enabling the network to automatically expand block capacity and significantly improve base-layer throughput.
The gas limit increase is the result of the "Pump The Gas" initiative launched in March 2024 by Ethereum developers Eric Connor and Mariano Conti, aimed at reducing transaction fees on the first-layer blockchain and enhancing network scalability.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that this is only the beginning of network scaling, and over the coming year, network capacity will continue to be optimized in smarter ways.
