TechFlow news, November 13 — According to Jinshi Data citing CNBC, White House press secretary Levitt stated that due to the government shutdown, key economic reports for October may never be released. Levitt said: "Democrats may have permanently damaged the federal statistical system. The October CPI and non-farm payrolls report likely will never be published. All economic data releases will suffer permanent harm, leaving Federal Reserve policymakers flying blind during a critical period."
As the government shutdown extends beyond six weeks, setting a historic record, Wall Street has been closely watching the release of key economic data. Other affected data include retail sales, import and export figures, as well as consumer spending and income. Most economists previously expected all data would eventually be released, albeit with delays. However, Levitt's remarks cast doubt on this expectation. She added that the shutdown could reduce fourth-quarter GDP growth by up to 2 percentage points.
